Step 3 of Roadmap to Reopen on July 16, 2021

Due to the declining number of new cases of COVID-19, as well as provincewide vaccination rates, the Government of Ontario announced on July 9, 2021, that the province would enter Step 3 of the Roadmap to Reopen on July 16, 2021.

Although most businesses are allowed to reopen, requirements for use of face coverings and eye protection, physical distancing, and occupancy restrictions are still in place. Owners and operators of businesses and organizations are strongly encouraged to carefully review all information to determine which rules apply to their sector. The general requirements for Step 3 can be found at the Reopening Ontario webpage and specific requirements are outlined within the Regulation O. Reg. 364/20: RULES FOR AREAS AT STEP 3 under Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020, S.O. 2020, c. 17. Within the Regulation, rules applying to all businesses can be found in Schedule 1 and restrictions for specific business types can be found in Schedule 2.  Information is also available on Public Health Sudbury & Districts’ website at

As the province moves through the Roadmap to Reopen, it is critical that we all remain vigilant especially in the context of COVID-19 variants of concern. Continuing to follow safety precautions and increasing vaccination rates are key to ensuring that numbers of new cases of COVID-19 remain low, and that the province can continue to safely re-open.
