Get involved: health equity
The more we talk about health equity, the more chances to figure out how to make things better.
No one in our community needs to be at risk of poor health solely due to their social and economic environments. Together we can build a community in which there is Opportunity for All.
You can start thinking, talking and asking your own questions.
It is startling to know that there are real differences in health across our communities. It can motivate you to ask questions such as, “Are these differences acceptable?” “Why do they exist?” and “What can I do to make a difference?”
The good news is the more we talk about health equity, the less hidden it is and the more we can figure out our own role in making things better.
What can you do?
- Share what you know about the social and economic conditions that influence health.
- Become involved in your community.
- Be vocal about the need for policies and programs that create opportunities for health.
- Always consider the impact of your own decisions and actions on the health of our communities.
