Come out and learn about setting up a community garden.
Topics include seed gathering and saving, setting up a garden space, weeding, pests, harvesting, storage, and food preservation.
Ron Lewis, an avid gardener and farmer for over forty years, will be speaking at each session. He is best known for his giant pumpkins, fruit trees, organic vegetable gardens, and tours of his garden.
There will be 3 sessions in total—each with a different theme.
- Session 1: Starting Out
Little Current: Thursday, April 9, 2015 – 1 to 4 p.m.
Sudbury: Friday, April 10, 2015 – 1 to 4 p.m.
- Session 2: Managing Your Garden
Little Current: Thursday, June 4, 2015 – 1 to 4 p.m.
Sudbury: Friday, June 5, 2015 – 1 to 4 p.m.
- Session 3: Savouring Your Garden
Little Current: Friday, September 25, 2015 – 1 to 4 p.m.
Sudbury: Thursday, September, 24, 2015 – 1 to 4 p.m. OR 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Emerie Brine from Bernardin® and a registered dietitian will also be speaking at the third session.
