Blue-green algal bloom reported in the upper French River

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change has advised the Sudbury & District Health Unit that results from samples taken October 27, 2015, from the upper French River are positive for blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). The samples contained a species of cyanobacteria that can produce toxins. Blue-green algae were previously confirmed in French River during September of this year.

When a bloom is visible avoid using the water for drinking and bathing, or swimming in the area of the bloom.
