Louise Picard Public Health Research Grant

The Louise Picard Public Health Research Grant aims to encourage collaboration between academic and public health researchers to explore research areas of mutual interest. Funded jointly by Laurentian University and Public Health Sudbury & Districts, each grant encourages collaboration on research that is relevant to public health.

Louise Picard, for whom this grant is named, is a champion for innovation and partnerships. Louise started her career as a public health nurse with Public Health Sudbury & Districts and transitioned to coordinator and later director within the agency.  In her role, Louise was a leader in forging successful partnerships between the public health and academic sectors to develop innovative and improved public health practices, which led to the creation of the Public Health Research Initiative Grant in 2003. In 2006, after Louise’s retirement, the grant was renamed in her honour.

The purpose of the Louise Picard Public Health Research Grant is to:

An annual call for proposals occurs for all Laurentian University faculty members and staff from Public Health Sudbury & Districts. Applications must demonstrate the partnership and how both investigators are going to actively conduct the research.  Grants are valued up to $5,000.
