What if I work in a high-risk setting and am exposed to someone with COVID-19?

If you think you may have COVID-19 or were exposed to the virus, and you work in a high-risk setting (Government of Ontario, PDF 314KB) including hospitals, long-term care and retirement homes, or congregate living settings, you must notify your employer and stay away from work for 10 days from your exposure or symptom onset, or from your date of diagnosis. Follow the steps at ontario.ca/exposed to take care of yourself and to protect others.

To support the management of critical staffing shortages in highest risk settings, test-to-work strategy may be implemented, in which staff are able to return to work when they would otherwise be required to self-isolate or otherwise not attend work for 10 days from last exposure. Highest risk settings considering this approach are to consult with Public Health Sudbury & Districts.
