Pregnancy and abuse

What is spousal and partner abuse?

Did you know that abuse can start during pregnancy, or become worse if pre-existing? And it does not usually stop once the baby is born.

Abuse can come in many different forms; physical; emotional; verbal; sexual; spiritual; and financial.

Know that it is against the law for anyone to hit, slap or call you names.

Know that there is help available.

Where can I find help?

It is important to know that help is made available to you if you are involved in an abusive situation! Please visit the Public Health Agency of Canada for more information.
