Beach water testing results

Throughout the summer, Public Health Sudbury & Districts regularly samples the water at 33 local public beaches:

Public Health Sudbury & Districts posts inspection results and beach status online. For inspection and enforcement information, visit Check Before You Go!.

When water sample results show unacceptable levels of bacteria, Public Health Sudbury & Districts will post signs to warn users that it is not safe to swim in the beach’s water. Public Health Sudbury & Districts will issue beach closures when the level of bacterial contaminants in the water far exceeds acceptable levels or when other conditions exist that make the beach’s water unsafe or unsuitable for use by the public.

If you see a blue-green algae bloom nearby, do not swim in the water, do not drink the water or allow pets in the water. Report blue-green algae blooms as soon as possible to Public Health Sudbury & Districts.

For information about when beaches are supervised, please visit the City of Greater Sudbury’s website or phone your local municipal office.
