Location: Main Office – 1300 Paris St., Sudbury
Work Location Arrangement: Partial On-site – the position requires a combination of regular on-site and remote work. Reasons and schedules can vary, but worker attends on-site regularly (for example, each week).
Salary: $32.67-$37.15 per hour (as per CUPE collective agreement)
Position summary:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated health professional to contribute to our organizational mission of working with our communities to promote and protect health and prevent disease.
Reporting to the Manager, Knowledge and Strategic Services, the Research Assistant will provide assistance and support to the agency in the planning and implementation of population health assessment and effective public health practice, including evaluation, research, and surveillance in accordance with agency policy.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the Knowledge and Strategic Services and agency work in the areas of the Foundational Standards, including effective public health practice, population health assessment, and health equity.
- Assists with the development of research, evaluation, population health assessment, and surveillance tools.
- Contributes to divisional monthly and annual reports.
- Conducts interviews and focus groups for the collection of evidence.
- Collaborates with other members of the agency on web survey development, analysis, and reporting.
- Enters, compiles and tabulates quantitative and qualitative data.
- Analyses basic quantitative data and assists with additional analysis.
- Assists with the analysis of qualitative data using appropriate software.
- Assists in the preparation and production of project reports and presentations.
- Develops and maintains project-related databases.
- Develops data entry templates and assists staff with same.
- Identifies requests for necessary supplies and equipment and submits requests to the Manager.
- Contributes to the development of program plans and develops, plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates assigned projects in consultation with the manager and other team members as required.
- Participates in the orientation of staff, students, volunteers, and others as may be required for the position.
- Provides input into the budget process upon request.
Requirements:
- Degree in related health or social science field.
- Minimum two years experience in research, data collection, and program evaluation.
- Experience with computer programs, in particular software for quantitative and qualitative data analysis (i.e. NVivo, Stata, Epi Info, Reference Manager, etc.).
- Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Experience with data collection software and databases (i.e. Survey Monkey, Fluid Surveys, etc.).
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage several concurrent projects efficiently.
- Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary team setting.
- Advanced oral and written proficiency in English is required.
- Advanced oral and written proficiency in French is an asset.
- Maintains a means to travel on an occasional basis, such as having a current valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
